Bainbridge Flowers

{photo cred to Laura Jones}

1. Guess who got her Valentine's Day present in April? That's right, this girl. Frankie sent me cupcakes from Baked by Melissa. He claims he doesn't know “who the hell” Melissa is and that he made them… Either way, they were delicious.  And I love that we sent each other baked goods for Valentines day.

2. As long as we're on the subject of holidays and presents, FRANKIE'S BIRTHDAY WAS MONDAY. I got him the BEST present ever. But it won't be released till June 30th so he has to wait. MUAHAHHAHAH. It only seems fitting, I get all my presents with a two month lag.

3. I told you guys that my best friends were visiting over the last two weeks and it was amazing to have them here.  I'm planning a post to highlight all the things we did while they were here soon.  Expect a two month lag.  And if you follow my instagram you know you can expect tulips.  LOTS of tulips.  Honestly, the tulips might have to be their own post.

4. This made me so so so happy & a HUGE shoutout to my friend @lovethembruins for becoming a buzzfeed celeb!

5.  Scandal | My life is going to be incomplete without Scandal for the next few months.  The finale got me.  After complaining for weeks that I felt like it was getting boring, BOOM.  They got me.  I'm still just in shock.  SHE GOT ON THE PLANE.  POOR JERRY.  I HATE PAPA POPE.  is it weird that I love Mellie?  Because I do.  I really do.  I want her to be happy.  Fitzyyyyy, I just want to hug you.  New Girl | BUT GUYSSSSSSSSS opposites can attract.  you can dooooo it.  I have SO much faith.  I hate that they used an entire season to lure me into my Jess & Nick safezone and ripped it away.  I feel Finchel feels from Glee season 3.  Grr.  Mindy | Danny needs to make up his mind, ASAP.

6.  I leave for Washington, D.C. on Saturday for a work training and I'm pretty excited.  I've never been before so I'll be attempting to tackle all the sights.  Any suggestions?  I'm walking the Nike Women's Half Marathon on Sunday morning.

7.  This is perfect and completely accurately describes my relationship with my little brother.

8. I'm in full blown Moscow Mule mode.  I want all the Rachel's Ginger Beer.  GIVE IT ALL TO ME.  The guava is to die for.

9. I want to go to every single one of these places.

10. Could I have fit any more links into this post?  Probably.

11. Just for fun: I can't get this song out of my head.  Because Target can now dominate my music choices through their advertisements.  You win Target.  You win.

P.S. – I'd really love it if you'd check out the Pike Place Kitchen Facebook Page!

Coffee Table.jpg

1.  Let's run away together and drink mint iced coffee all day long and have the only care in the world be whether or not you can play with my hair, convince the cabana boy to spike our coffees with booze, and sunbathe on the beach all at the same time.  I don't want you to say no.  I know you're saying it, but stop saying it.  In fact stop talking.  In this amazing fantasy vacation of mine no one talks to me.  {side note: I have NO clue why my boyfriend laughs when I tell him he's not allowed to talk to me on our vacations.}

2.  My childhood best friend is visiting me in Seattle this week.  I can't contain my excitement.  It's. Just. So. Exciting!  I'm going to the airport to pick her up today and I can't wait.  And then my best friends from college are visiting me next week.  It's kind of my dream come true.  So. Many. Activities!

3.  I sort of went on a cleaning binge because they're all coming.  Spring cleaning is a thing.  And I fell in love with the Method Grapefruit All-Purpose cleaner that I read about on my friend Lindsay's blog.  Also, I'd be lying if I told you I didn't restyle my knock-off expedit and desperately want to make a gallery wall

4.  The amount of support I got from making the Pike Place Kitchen Facebook Page was just really amazing.  thank you.  thank YOU.

5.  Will you all judge me if I become a Blake Shelton fan club member so I can get presale tickets when he comes to Tacoma?  Womp womp.  judge away.  it's happening.

6.  I'm also OBSESSED with the Afterlight photo editing app.  Because you know, Jessica told me she loved it and I'm a blogger's dream reader who trusts inherently and buys everything fellow bloggers tell me they like.  But really.

7.  Scandal | I won't lie, I've been bored… Jake seems like he's the most interesting character to me at the moment.  Poor guy.  I feel for him I do.  I also feel for Mellie.  I loved her finally fighting for what she wants.  Fitz.  oh, Fitz.  I hate you right now and you suck. that is all.  Nashville | Scarlettttttt, wahhhh.  Juliette, I still love you.  Teddy, you can be a jerk but I feel for you.  Gunnar, you are my favoritest of favorites and deserve every dime of the $400,000 [puhleaseeeee, marry me].  Deacon, ily but you're being the biggest baby of babies.  anddddddd Luke, idk what you're planning but I know i don't like it.  New Girl | WHAT THE WHAT?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  HEY.  YOU CAN'T JUST DO  THINGS LIKE THAT TO ME.  SORRY BUT NO.  Mindy Project | Swooning over everything that is Mindy and Danny.  Dindy?  Minanny?

8.  However, if I'm being honest with you, the majority of my week was dominated by crappy TV shows that require no thinking and little attention i.e. About a Boy, Brooklyn 99, and Enlisted.  And then there's Game of Thrones (which is NOT crappy and required ALL of my attention).  I won't even pretend I didn't watch power-through three seasons in one week.  I'm a trooper.  I haven't watched the season 4 premiere yet… no spoilers.  get out.

9.  For book club this month we read Me Before You by JoJo Moyes.  Honestly, I hated the book.  It was depressing and slow and overall I felt a lot of the relationships between some of the characters were unrealistic (ahem, Patrick and Lou…).  Our discussion about the book was definitely interesting, and the general consensus was you either loved it or hated it.  Looking back on it, I liked reading it… but after I analyzed it for the discussion it became apparent that I didn't enjoy/believe the story.  That being said, the book approached a subject that is very sensitive and generates a lot of argument/debate in an empathetic manner which I appreciated.  It kind of reminded me of when I was younger and loved to read Jodi Picoult.  I haven't read her in a while but from what I remember I felt her character interaction/development was more realistic than Moyes'.

10.  I really like glittery/shiney easter eggs.  Thanks target for another thing I needed but didn't know I needed until I saw it.

11.  I feel like I'm the only human that still hasn't seen Frozen.  I've heard it's really good and potentially the next Disney Classic.  I'm going to have to grab it from redbox.

Tortilla Pizza

04.03.14

Here's the thing. I know I'm awful at blogging regularly (unless I'm writing meaningless posts about things no one cares about like sparkly nails). But I've had this recipe ready for you guys for WEEKS. Like I wrote it down while I made the pizzas for myself so I would have NO EXCUSE not to blog about it right away.. Easy Tortilla Pizza

Then it just got away from me… until I got a text from my boyfriend showing me a St. Patrick's day milk shake he made (and didn't mail me one of) accompanied by “You should watch out, I might take over your blog”

Then I was like ummmmmmmm. Wait. I suck. You'd all probably rather have Frankie write your recipes. But do you know what it would be? A blog about boozy milkshakes. The boy can't even boil water but he makes a mean smoothie. I'm sure you'd all just loveeeeeeee that.

But he can't be your favorite because, you know, I bring you really easy pizza. And my own boozy stuff. Like shots and martinis. And. and. and. I just want you to like me better, okay?

Tortilla Pizza toppings

Besides, I've been coming up with some cool ideas for you, like a Cooking for One series where my recipes only yield one or two portion sizes. I was toying with the idea because nearly everything I make has leftovers for DAYS.

Tortilla Pizza

Don't get me wrong. Girl loves her some leftovers. But sometimes it just gets boringggggg. And there are only so many ways I can repurpose leftovers in a week before I lose my creativity.

And I have a lot of friends who are moving out on their own and living by themselves for the first time. The kitchen can seem like a scary, scary place (just ask my boyfriend). Hopefully, me designing some recipes that are quick, easy, and perfect for one or two servings will help conquer that fear.

If I can stay on task long enough to do it… Tortilla Pizza-5

Anywho.  I love these pizzas because you can literally make them in 10 minutes with any toppings you want.  When I was little my dad used to make us english muffin pizzas.  I started making them with tortillas in high school when we didn't have any english muffins in the house.  They're the ultimate drunk food.  Ultimate.

The recipe has my favorite way to make them, but lately I've been throwing green pepper, red onion, and slices of garlic on there.  Yeah.  That happened.

P.S. I am well aware that St. Patricks day was like weeks ago and I still hadn't gotten around to posting this post.  Like I said.  I've been REALLY busy making myself pizzas.  yeah.

Sunday [Morning, Rain is Fallin] Things

03.09.14

Sunday Morning Pancakes 1. Let me ask you something.  WHO HAS TIME TO BLOG WHEN THERE ARE FULL SEASONS OF DEXTER TO WATCH ON NETFLIX?   Yesterday, I had plans.  Big plans.  To DIY a ton of stuff.  Know what I did?  Sat on my couch and watched a full season (season 5) of Dexter and then some.  I got off the couch to make myself food.  (This is slightly related and not a complete ADD moment, I swear.)  I canceled cable recently so a representative from the cable company came to take away the cable box yesterday.  The guy came into my apartment, looked me up and down, saw my unshowered self in my boyfriend's basketball shorts with a dressy top and half-tube socks (all of which I slept in) with UN-SHAVED legs, and he goes “um… did you know I was coming today?”  I would have been offended had the situation not been completely ridiculous.  I wanted to be like “yes, sir.  I did know you were coming.  But like, I have Dexter to watch… I can't be bothered with hygiene.”  But really.

2. True life: I had to tell myself I could blog from bed this morning to get the motivation to finally write this post.

3. I have this nostalgic thing about Monster (the energy drink).  Every time I have it I feel like I'm being shifted back in time to late night college study sessions.  You could almost always find me in the library, or Frankie's room, or the Unistructure with a monster and some candy studying away.  I associate the drink with buckling down.  GETTING STUFF DONE.  So now when I have one at work it's like we're old friends coming together again.

4. Girl scout cookies will be my demise.  I'm fairly certain of it.  They're taunting me during this no carbs/less sugar cleanse I'm doing (who the hell am I??) and I don't know how to refuse them.  #firstworldproblems

5. Jessica favorited one of my tweets like two weeks ago and I instantly swooned and died.  I'm now writing to you from the afterlife.  (I feel like if I watched the Walking Dead I'd insert a reference here but it's on that list of 1,000,000 shows I need to watch but haven't.)

6. Let's talk about how BADLY I want the Ninja Mega Kitchen System.. I'm like drooling over it.  My birthday is only three months away right??  So it would be like an early birthday present to myself, right?  Talk me out of it people.  Talk me down from the wallet killing ledge.  PLEASE.  S.O.S.  (also, I would like to be talked out of buying an ice cream maker.)

7. How freaking cool is this?  I took the Amtrak from Vancouver, WA to Seattle last week and I had so much fun and it was so pretty and, and, and I want to live on a train.

8. 29 ways to eat meatballs?  Take me to my kitchen.  Take this test and tell me what your favorite is.  My fave is obviously the peps. Also, I have had seven of these nineteen.  I think it's now my life mission to get all nineteen.  I MUST COMPLETE THE COLLECTION.  (side note: did you guys know that buzzfeed has a section DEVOTED to food?  who the hell didn't tell me?)

9. I just don't want to go grocery shopping today.  Or do anything.  I don't want to do anything today.

10. Scandal kind of bored me this week.  Nothing super shocking.  I hate when Liv uses Jake.  and Fitz is just being crazy annoying and I want to punch him.  The only interesting thing worth actually discussing is whether or not you think Mellie is going to start having an affair with that man?  Do you think she loves him back?  WHAT'S THE BACK STORY SCANDAL PEOPLE.  i MUST know.  that was really all I was interested in.  except quinn.  get back on the good side quinn.  I miss you.

11. Do I have to leave my bed?  Can I just open a window and listen to the rain?  Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeee?

Sunday Things

02.23.14

Selfie Nation  1.  I think I'm over my bangs (let's talk about super important things today), but every time I tell myself I'm over them and I'm going to let them grow out I end up cutting them again because I miss the IDEA of them already.  (I'm so freaking strange it hurts).

2.  I want to understand herbalife.  I spent like 20 minutes on their website trying to understand the concept.  Everyone on instagram is all HERBALIFE LIFESTYLE. and i'm in the corner like i don't get it.  what lifestyle?  someone help me.

3.  Also, I want to read Divergent but I keep putting it off.  I bought it.  It's on my iPad.  I keep telling myself to read it and somehow I find myself in the iBooks store “buying” the free crappy romance novels and binge reading them instead.  Is it because I'm scared it won't be as good as everyone says?  Like what the what?  why am I torturing myself?  Just read the damn book Ash.  I don't even LIKE the stupid romance novels I read because they're free and generally full of poor writing and grammar mistakes (I'm one to talk) that make me literally wince (omg I'm so sorry… you're probably wincing through this whole post… aaaanndddddd we're over it).  Moral of the story: I should read Divergent since I've owned it for months and the movie is coming out in a month… yeah.

4.  I need to do a photo post soon but I just cant because I need to craft.  Last weekend, I literally crafted the whole time.  And I LOVED it.  It was glorious and I felt like I achieved something. and… andddd I just really like the metallic gold paint that I'm putting on everything like a child.  But yeah.  Photo post is on my list.

5.  Do you know how hard it is to blog with the gorgeous mountains outside my window?  I just want to go frolic in the snow {read: sit in the hot tub and look at the snow} and love my life.  However, I am about to go zip lining today (who am I and what have I done with myself), which I can only imagine will be beautiful.

6.  How does one prepare for zip lining in Utah?  By eating a breakfast of champions.  I literally am inhaling cookie dough stuffed Oreos, sour cream and onion chips, and a mug of coca cola.  Am I a child?  Probably.  Being an adult is too overrated (except when it includes spiked hot chocolate, then it's worth every year).

7.  For the past few months I've been searching for a bokeh app that I really like and I finally found one: RealBokeh.  I think I paid for it? Like one or two dollars but it was totally worth it.  I like having all the control that the app gives me.  And now you know why 99% of the pictures I've been posting have been covered in bokeh.  #sorryimnotsorry

8.  I'm sorry but if this isn't the cutest thing you've seen all day we can't be friends.  the end.

9.  My life as I watch the olympics & my life as I avoid the gym & my life as I have the strong urge to rewatch every episode of Friends.

10.  I wonder if Friends is on Netflix or if I'm going to have to buy every season now… <- things that go through my head.

11.  Speaking of Netflix, they put every episode of Dexter up so I've obviously been binge watching like a boss.  And I have like 1,000,000 shows on my list of things to watch.  A list which, by the way, just keeps getting longer and longer because my boyfriend binge watches stuff and tells me I need to watch it too.  #firstworldproblems

12.  This post achieved nothing and everything at the same time, which is how it should be I guess?  I don't know.  On that note, have a great week!
