Can we discuss the fact that the city breached 90 degrees this week??
it's too much too fast. i can already tell that this summer is gonna be a scorcher. and accordingly i came up with the BEST way to cool down.
STRAWBERRY BASIL BALSAMIC DAIQUIRIS! dare we claim this is the ONLY acceptable way to cool down this summer? I think so. i think so.
LET ME TELL YOU WHY.
1) they're NOT uncomfortably sweet. the only sugar you're getting is from the strawberries. making it perfecttttt for those friends who can't drink too many sweet drinks. (side note: i'm turning into that person actually…)
2) we're blending some power couple combo flavors. and it works SO well.
3) they're made with only FIVE ingredients (and that includes ice!)
I used frozen strawberries because i had them in the freezer from a sale. but i've also used fresh strawberries and think it's the perfect way to use up those strawberries at the bottom of the carton because you're avoiding their little damages. (if you're anything like me it ends up being half the container, i was my mother's worst nightmare when it came to damaged produce)
speaking of my momma. she LOVED these too! i made them back on the weekend of my half marathon when she visited to support me.
we slurped down a batch of these as the “i hate verizon cocktail” when her strike was starting up. and they hit the spot after walking every which way that day so she could get her steps in for her fitbit workweek challenge!
also, i'm writing this post on the bus to go see her!! well on my way to see the whole family ? that's right, i'm 401 bound for a nice five day vacay.
i swear these frozen strawberries look like they're all crystalized and almost coated in sugar or something.
all frosted and beautiful. ugh.
and the RUM looks like it's the HAPPIEST of all the poured liquids.
(i think i might be losing it, because i now think ALL the ingredients are happy.)
even the balsamic is happy!
you know why? it's because it's a billion degrees and alllll these things KNOW they're going to be blended together to make the perfect cool down cocktail. YAS. they just know okay.
i'm still super obsessed with my copper measuring cups and measuring spoons, because they're just the PRETTIEST!
also. can i ask a question? what do you guys doooo with all your basil besides make pesto? clearly i bought the largest bundle of basil and i'm thinking of different ways to use it because i'm also trying to keep a basil plant alive again this year. (i'll keep you posted, but don't hold your breath!)
LOOK AT HOW PRETTY IT IS!
i really can't even get over it. at ALL.
i'm thinking we should have a couple of these cocktails this weekend right?
luckily for me, my momma has the same ninja blender as i do so it'll be just like i'm at home making up a batch of these. and she alsoooo planted a basil plant and a mint plant (which btw. she planted them in the SAME pot. i told her that was a huge mistake and the mint is going to KILL her basil. we'll see if she listens)
